Increase Site/Blog Traffic with Feedburner

Feedburner logoThis is being written as a response to a comment i received.

“Great entry, but not sure exactly what services you are using with Feedburner I’ve been using their services for a while and I’ve noticed no increase in traffic or anything unless I wanted to pay.”

You can also see my success story of how Feedburner increased my site traffic by clicking here. Well anyway, heres a short tutorial of mine on how to activate as many free services from Feedburner as possible to help you gain site traffic to your blog or website and a bit more:

  • Step 1: As soon as you’ve registered your blog, DO NOT click “skip this step”. You will regret it! Simply click next to continue to upgrade your account for free.

    Step 1 Image

  • Step 2: Now what you have to do is check off what services you want. Make sure to check off Pro. (The “Item enclosure downloads (podcast downloads)” feature is optional.) Please take note that those are not all the services, it’s just the page where you decide what type of account and RSS feed you want.Step 2 Image
  • Step 3: The next page that you’ll see is mainly explanations on what all the services you can use are. To not have to read all of it just keep reading my tutorial. We’ll start off by having you click “Feed Burner Stats Pro”. under the services section of the navigation sidebar. Its the one that is labeled “Now you have can track your stats the PRO way thanks to me” in the image below.Step 3 Image
There you can select if you want to track your sites/blogs visitors, page views, referrers, searches, outgoing links and more. You can also choose to not include your computer in the results. And later you can use the side-bar under the “Analyze” tab.
  • Step 4: Now click on the “Publicize” tab. Find Email Subscriptions in the sidebar and choose which email alert service you want to use .Now people can get email updates whenever you publish a post. Then go to “Pingshot”, also in the sidebar.
Step 4 ImageCheck off all the services there, and don’t forget to add five of your favorites to also have them notified when you publish a new post. This will help you reach out to more people. Finally, click the optimize tab and click “SmartFeed” on the sidebar. Activate this service to make sure that everyone can subscribe to your feed.
  • There is another tab called Monetize that could help promote your site or blog, but there are several conditions you need to be able to use, which i haven’t met yet.

There are other services to help optimize your feed, they include:

View RSS and Blog or website traffic under the “Analyze” tab.
Make it easier for subscribers to email, share, and more by checking off everything by following the “FeedFlare” link under the Optimize tab.
You can also splice your links, and photos.
You can even use your logo in your feed and set a free copyright on your work using “Creative Commons”, create a banner that will show a different headline from your site every few seconds, show off your feed’s circulation with a customized Chiklet, and find code to many different chicklets which will let your subscribers bookmark you with a News Aggregator all under the Publicize tab. You have to copy and paste every chicklets code to include all of them on your site, which i found very annoying, so I posted the code below, I will but you should make sure it works after changing the url because I’m not sure if you need to change anything else too. The code is located after the tutorial. (you can use Microsoft Word’s Text Replacer to replace all the “Mega Voltage”s’ in the code with your Sites/Blogs name.

Well, thats about it, I hope that helps include your site/blog traffic.

    Chicklets code:

    1. Thanks for the comment. Are you paying for the Pro Services though?

    2. Actually now by using a service called “Add this” you don’t have to use all of that code at the bottom of this article. Check it out here:

The buttons in my sidebar that say “Subscribe” and “Bookmark” are from Add This.
